Field Trip: Metolius River Trail

Matt Palmquist and Elliot Drake-Maurer will lead a relaxed, 3-mile stroll along the Metolius River trail. This “larch march” will feature the golden needles of the Western Larch, Oregon’s only native deciduous conifer, as well as a variety of other conifers. The trail is mostly flat and there will be ample time to admire the colors and the beauty of the river. Matt Palmquist is a park ranger at Silver Falls State Park, who loves viewing and teaching about Oregon’s native plants. Elliot Drake-Maurer is an outdoor education specialist with the OSU Extension Service Outdoor School office.
