Vesper Meadow Tour and Willow Planting Work Party

Date: Saturday, April 6th, 10am – 2pm

Siskiyou Chapter is partnering with Vesper Meadow for a meadow tour and willow-planting work party outside of Ashland. Vesper Meadow has been working for six years to restore a creek channel which was previously eroded due to overgrazing and down-cutting associated with a lack of vegetation. The group will learn restoration techniques like willow staking, which create live gully-breaks resulting in diverse habitat features. This is a fun and easy way to participate as a land steward in headwater creeks of the Rogue River. All interested in learning more are welcome, recommended for ages 12 and up. Please note the terrain is generally flat but can be uneven. Participants will be carrying willow stakes 4 – 7 ft in length and using loppers to source willow material. Please bring layers of clothing, waders, or waterproof boots, water, snacks, and lunch.
